Post Sixth Form Apprenticeships
The Apprenticeship Route
An Apprenticeship is more than just a job; it’s about skills for life. You basically mix classroom learning with work!
As an apprentice you will:
- work alongside experienced staff
- gain job-specific skills
- You will earn the national minimum wage during your apprenticeship
- You will study towards a related qualification (usually one day a week at college)
- You’ll get at least 20 days paid holiday per year, plus bank holidays
Apprenticeships take 1 to 4 years to complete depending on their level.
Levels of apprenticeship:
An apprenticeship has an equivalent education level and can be:
- Intermediate - equivalent to 5 GCSE passes – This applies to YOU post GCSE
- Advanced - equivalent to 2 A level passes
- Higher - can lead to NVQ Level 4 and above, or a foundation degree
You can apply for an apprenticeship if you’re 16 or over
