Drama
We believe all students should have access to an aspirational and inclusive drama curriculum. In KS3, students will enhance their creativity and confidence through various drama techniques and performance opportunities. Group workshops will foster collaboration, communication, and teamwork. Drama promotes skills valuable across the curriculum and beyond, encouraging students to reflect, evaluate, and build resilience. For students who choose to study Drama at GCSE they are introduced to a diverse range of genres and practitioners to challenge and inspire them. Alongside practical exploration, students will also demonstrate and develop their ability to analyse and evaluate through respectful verbal discussions and written examinations. Throughout all years, students will reflect on and evaluate their own work and that of others, building upon their resilience and determination to make informed choices in both process and performance.
For all years, we aim to encourage high commitment within and outside of lessons providing a variety of extracurricular classes for all students to experience success. Ultimately, this gives students further performance opportunities to develop their technical and expressive skills, relationships and self esteem.
Year 9
Students will develop creativity and confidence by exploring various drama techniques and participating in performance opportunities. Throughout KS3, students will be introduced to Drama GCSE pathways, gaining practical skills in acting, lighting, sound, and costume design. This exploration builds confidence, self-esteem, and teamwork abilities while fostering transferable skills such as communication, creativity, problem-solving, and adaptability. Our supportive environment encourages self-expression, with performance opportunities and the development of communication and evaluation skills through self and peer assessment.
Year 10-11
Students studying GCSE explore diverse genres and practitioners to inspire and challenge them. They will develop analytical skills through discussions and exams. Throughout their education, students will reflect on their work, build resilience, and make informed choices in their artistic endeavours. GCSE Drama isn't just for those looking to perform and act; students can also be assessed on design elements such as lighting, sound, costume, and set design.
