Cedars Upper

Cedars School Association

Welcome to the CSA!

If you are the parent of a Cedars student, a former student or a teacher at Cedars you are automatically a member of the Cedars School Association (CSA).

We meet at least once per half-term in the school Library and always welcome new members.

We exist to provide opportunities for parents to socialise and to raise funds to make available extra resources that will enhance our children’s education.

Last year our turnover was just over £10,000; our latest shopping list totalled nearly £6000 and included -

  • a Lego mindstorms robot for the ICT
  • globes and maps for Humanities
  • a laminator for Business Studies
  • a laser printer and screens for silk screen printing for Art
  • a data logger for Physics
  • a digital screen miscroscope for Biology
  • A level laboratory equipment for Chemistry
  • audio interfaces for Music Technology
  • dressmakers dummies for Textiles
  • a pasta-making machine and food processor for Food Technology
  • rugby post protectors for PE
  • a drugs education kit for PSR
  • WOWO boards for English
  • book tokens and jumbo magnetic letters for the Library
  • display boards for Young Enterprise
  • digital video recorders and a camera for common use
  • display boards for corridors

One of our main sources of fundraising is through our 200 Club; you purchase a number for £12 per year and are then entered into a monthly draw.

Each month there are prizes of £40 and £20 and there is a quarterly extra prize of £100. To join the 200 Club simply click here for further information and click here to download an application form. Once your form is processed you will be entered into the next available draw.

Another way you can raise funds for Cedars is via TheGivingMachine™. You can now generate free cash donations for Cedars Upper every time you shop online. It will not cost you anything extra - the online shop pays the donation on your behalf. With over a thousand Cedars families we could raise an awful lot of money to support our children’s education. Just go to www.thegivingmachine.co.uk.

After every Easter and October half-term holiday we organise a Bag2School collection. This company recycles good-quality clothing, bedding, soft toys, handbags, belts and shoes. The money raised from this is then paid to Cedars! They provide ‘official’ blue bags but you can use any type of large, plastic bag to put donated items in. Usually there is a period of seven to ten days in which to deliver your bags to school before they are collected from us but please do contact us if you need any help. Please see Diary Dates for the next scheduled collection date.

Our biggest fund-raising event is our annual Christmas Craft & Gift Fayre. This is a fantastic opportunity to get ahead with your Christmas shopping, whilst supporting local craftspeople. We usually have around 40 stalls offering a huge range of wares. We also offer morning coffee, lunches and afternoon tea with home-baked cakes. Festive entertainment is usually offered by the Grand Union Choir.

Another festive event is the Christmas Wreath-Making Workshop. Professional florist, Denise Draper, is on hand to demonstrate and then assist you in making a door wreath or table decoration. Ticket prices include basic materials and a light lunch with a glass of wine. Due to the nature of this event places are limited to fifty and tend to book up quickly so please register your interest if you would like a ticket.

During the year we normally run a Quiz Night each term and a Wine Tasting Evening, sell summer and autumn bedding plants and serve refreshments at school functions such as drama productions and musical events. Suggestions for other events that we could organise are always welcomed; please contact me by e-mail at csa@cedarsupper.co.uk

Your support is vital – without it the CSA would simply not exist. We hope that amongst the variety of events outlined above you can find at least one way to support our efforts.
